If City wanted a more well-rounded player approaching their peak, Japan international Daichi Kamada ticks a lot of boxes.

The 24-year-old finished third in the Bundesliga assist standings this term, setting up 12 goals to help Eintracht Frankfurt finish fifth, just one point outside the Champions League places.

A classy operator, Kamada ranks high for creativity, including from set-pieces, and chips in with the odd goal too, scoring five this season and 10 the previous year, including six in the Europa League. That European experience may interest City too.

He would also fit the ethos Rodgers wants to instil at the club, working hard at the defensive side of the game to press the opposition and win the ball back.
