Spanish striker Fernando Torres has significantly reduced his wage demands to join the A-League next season with Football Federation Australia desperate to secure both he and Keisuke Honda.

The Covert Agent can reveal that Torres has lowered his initial wage demands of US $7 million down to $4 million with the FFA then prepared to cover $2 million themselves.

That however leaves an A-League club left to foot the other $2 million with the FFA viewing Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC as potential suitors considering both stand to be without their main strikers next season.

The FFA have however sounded out all A-League clubs as to their interest in taking on either Torres or Honda - with the Japanese attacker still playing hard ball.

Unlike Torres, Honda's manager brother Hiroyuki is still after around $7 million for a one-year deal to see the former AC Milan player join the A-League.

The FFA are also prepared to cover $2 million in costs to bring Honda to Australia but as it stands Torres is looking the more likely of the two to arrive.
