After recent reports that he is a contender to replace Jose Mourinho as Manchester United manager, Zinedine Zidane has said he is keen to return to coaching.

Zidane, 46, quit as Real Madrid head coach at the end of last season having led the club to three successive Champions League titles.

Amid a difficult start to the season for Manchester United – and a fractious summer which saw clashes over transfer policy – it has been suggested the club are potentially lining up Zidane if the relationship with Mourinho turns sour.

There were even reports in the French press that Zidane would be very keen on taking over at Old Trafford.

And now the man himself says he is keen to get back into management in the near future.

"I am sure that I will coach again before long," he told TVE.

"This is what I like and what I have done all my life."

It was even claimed at the weekend that the Frenchman has drawn up a four-man transfer shortlist, should he get the Old Trafford job, with a report in The Mirror saying Toni Kroos, Thiago Alcantara, James Rodriguez and Edinson Cavani were on his radar.
